EDementia... Alzheimer's Disease... memory-related impairments. When elder adults face memory loss, the challenges can be monumental - for both the individual as well as the family. Now, more than ever, the need for knowledge, experience and understanding is paramount. Combining skill with compassionate care is an absolute must. This is the hallmark of everything we do in Reflections at The Bristal... where personalized attention and individualized care bring out the best in each resident.
Every community of The Bristal houses a special wing called Reflections, a comprehensive memory enhancement program for seniors facing early to mid-stage Alzheimer's Disease and other memory-related cognitive disorders. Fully licensed by the New York State Department of Health, each Reflections program is staffed with experienced professionals who are trained and equipped to enhance the quality of life for these special-needs residents and their families. Reflections personnel are dedicated, highly skilled, hands-on providers who are specially trained to care for the memory impaired. They keep their skills up-to-date through ongoing in-service training. From Program Director to Activities Director to Resident Services Assistants and Housekeepers, our long-tenured staff cares greatly about what they do and why they do it and for whom.
Reflections is built on these six guiding principles of positive, dignified and validating care for residents with Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease: person-centered treatment, validation communication therapy, therapeutic activity, a dementia-capable staff, a dementia-friendly environment and partnering in care with families.
